Reading Blogs
I have enjoyed reading the blogs of my classmates. I have truly enjoyed the insights into how to maintain professionalism while blogging. I have given it a great deal of thought this last two days and I have come to the conclusion that many of you have, that keeping the blog to information only may be the way to go. I may give blogging a try.

Why Blog?
I can see where blogging can be a beneficial tool for communicating to a group (small, medium or large) of people. I have never really understood how blogging actually works until now. I guess I let the word "blogging" kind of not interest me. I could use blogging as a tool to communicate with all stakeholders in my school. I could also use it to post announcements and disseminate information to teachers. I really like the idea of using blogging to build community. I was really impressed with some of the blogs I viewed. They were very informational and that is the ultimate goal of a blog -- to communicate in real time.
The advantage of a blog is that you control the information that is shared on your blog. It is a timely way to get information (news and events) out to the people who have access to your blog. A disadvantage of using a blog is that you need to be careful how you represent yourself and the institution that you are blogging about. Information needs to be timely, accurate and positive. Part of using any tool to communicate with others is to build a trusting relationship with those that you are sharing information with. Be aware that the whole world is watching.
